Jersey city’s Battello not only serves fine Italian cuisine, its interior de-sign offers a feast for the eyes. The restaurant’s look, envisioned by managing partner Cory Checket, is a sly hybrid between warehouse chic and NYC’s Boat Basin, making it perfectly at home in its riverfront location without once devolving into nautical kitsch. The space makes creative use of salvaged materials (Battello’s tabletops are repurposed doors, for example) while offering breathtaking views of the manhattan skyline.
