Bright Ideas

September 27, 2016

CFL lightbulbs might fill one with a sense of environmental pride, but they also fill one’s home with a harsh and unforgiving glare. Thanks to tala, however, the appealing glow of an Edison incandescent has found a new lease on life. These retro offerings are created by revisiting old craftsmanship; some bulb shapes are achieved through traditional, hand-blown glass techniques.

What makes a tala bulb especially unique, however, is its stealthy incorporation of new technology. Despite its appearance, each bulb’s light source is not the result of burning tungsten; the exposed filament is a string of tiny Ledlights. The result is a funky throwback that emits warm, attractive light without sacrificing its sustainable pedigree.
