5 Gadgets For A Tech Savvy Home

February 9, 2025

Remember when video phones and robot assistants were things only The Jetsons would know? Innovators have caught us up with the future, and many of us have embraced technology and incorporated modern devices into our style and daily lives. But tomorrow is just getting started.

The top companies and up-and-coming inventors from around the global showed off the next best things for the home at last month’s Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas. Don’t fret if you didn’t attend—we’ve spotlighted five gadgets that caught the eyes and imaginations of many CES visitors.

Roborock Saros Z70. Yesterday’s robotic vacuums swept dust and debris, but the newest model by Roborock can lift lightweight objects too. Thanks to a foldable five-axis mechanical arm, this smart vacuum can pick up and move things that always seem to end up on the floor, from crumpled paper to used socks to Lego pieces.

Plantaform Smart Indoor Garden. Growing vegetables indoors, especially during winter, isn’t a novel idea, but this device does something new—it uses a combination of fog and nutrients to keep plants healthy and nourished. As many as 15 plants can grow in the pod’s fog-like environment—the first of its kind—which allows for optimal absorption of nutrients and faster-growing veggies.

Lymow One Robotic Mower. When your yard becomes a mess after landscapers leave, this automatic mower can get the job done. It’s equipped with professional-grade mulching blades—something found on traditional ride-on mowers but not on robots—as well as real-time satellite positioning so the device knows exactly where and where not to go on your property.

Xgimi Ascend. Rollable TVs cost an arm and a leg (LG once sold a model for about $100K), but Xgimi’s new 100-inch projection screen might be just as good at a fraction of the price. The Ascend is a retractable ambient light-rejecting screen for great picture quality and has built-in speakers and a short-throw projector. When it’s off, it rolls down into what looks like an ordinary piece of furniture. For a neat party trick and a cozy vibe, turn on a fireplace video and roll the screen to half-height.

Hyve Delivery Lockbox. There are many companies with package lockboxes that protect deliveries from porch pirates and weather, but Hyve’s latest takes it to another level. For instance, this home lockbox comes with a carbon fiber tether so you can secure it to a column or railing. If someone tries to tamper with the box, it can send an audio warning to the porch pirate and alert you via smartphone app.
