This summer, you and your friends can get an up-close-and-personal look at some of the our state’s best gardens. Sign up now for one of these events:
• Gardens of Cape May, Cape May. Cape May Museum, Arts and Culture (MAC) is holding its annual self-guided garden tour June 15 from noon until 4 p.m. The program takes visitors to several public and private locations along the seashore. Schedule and tickets: capemaymac.org
• The Gardens of Collingswood, Collingswood. Collingswood Civic Collective holds its Home & Garden Tour of Collingswood from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., featuring the beautiful properties within the community. Tickets and schedule: collingswood.com
• Bird Haven Farm, Pottersville. This approximately 20-acre private farm will be open for tours 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 16. The site includes large mature trees, a hay meadow, a vegetable and herb garden, fruit trees, ponds and a maze garden. Schedule and tickets: gardenconservancy.org
• The Gardens of Long Beach Island, Long Beach Island. Join the Garden Club of Long Beach Island from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 20 for a tour of six private gardens, as well as three others maintained by club members. Tickets and more details: thegardencluboflbi.com
• The Gardens of Spring Lake, Spring Lake. The Garden Club of Spring Lake is hosting a Seaside Garden Tour, spotlighting the manicured grounds of many public and private spaces in town. The tour takes place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 26. Tickets and more details: gardenclubofspringlake.org
• Laurelwood Arboretum, Wayne. Guided walking tours of the gardens are offered Saturday mornings in June, September and October. Times vary. Schedule and tickets: laurelwoodarboretum.org
• The Mountsier Garden, Nutley. This 2-acre private garden will be open for free tours from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 7. Tickets and information: gardenconservancy.org
• New Jersey Botanical Garden, Ringwood. Free guided tours of the botanical garden are available at 2 p.m. every Sunday, now through October. Information: njbg.org
• Reeves-Reed Arboretum, Summit. Guided tours are offered at no cost most Saturdays at 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., now through October. Information: reeves-reedarboretum.org
• Greenwood Gardens, Short Hills. Pick up a map and enjoy a self-guided tour of this estate. (Allot roughly 75 minutes to explore and appreciate the garden.) The site is open weekends from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. now through Nov. 3. Admission tickets and information: greenwoodgardens.org
