Using recycled plastic bottles, hot glue, resin and acrylic polymer, Brooklyn artist Shari Mendelson makes decorative vessels that harken back to ancient Greece and Rome. Their bubbly, iridescent appearance warrants a closer look, revealing floral motifs that are actually bottle bottoms. The pieces in this collection, called “Artifacts,” range in height from several inches to three feet and can be found at Todd Merrill Studio (toddmerrillstudio .com) in New York City and Southampton.
