5 Homes Decked Out for the Season

December 10, 2023

Do a Google search for “holiday décor” and honestly, the options are endless—and a tad overwhelming. So instead of sifting through every product the internet has to offer as you put the finishing touches on your holiday decorating, we recommend looking through some carefully curated New Jersey homes whose designers have perfected luxe festive décor.

These projects were designed by some of New Jersey’s best interior designers, and they have been featured in NJ HOME and our sister publications. So, scroll below and find what you’re looking for today and for years to come.

Elegance Approach

When you move into your new-construction home right before the holidays, obviously you need to make it festive. Designer Kingsley Belcher Knauss of KBK Interior Design went tastefully seasonal for these clients in Westfield, adding poinsettias and fresh garland to contrast—but not overpower—the blue-and-white theme throughout the first floor. Pinecones and stockings add a natural touch to the family room mantel.

The Season’s Finest

Designer Anna Maria Mannarino of Holmdel had a slew of end-of-year showings coming up, so she jumped at the chance to decorate this Edgewater model apartment in the finest of the season. She created Christmas vignettes with décor elements such as gold and red chargers, votive candles and decorative balls, and draped ribbons in the same colors around the tree. She brought in elements of nature with perfect placement of poinsettia arrangements, cut garland and pine cones.

For All Generations

Ridgewood homeowners knew the 1920s Tudor they had just purchased would be the perfect setting to pass on Christmas traditions to their two children—and make new ones. So, they asked designer Julie Kantrowitz of JK Interior Living to decorate their home with simple yet elegant décor to help create the spirit. Kantrowitz used subtle touches such as ivory and gold stockings on the mantel and decorative stars to illuminate the greenery-wrapped banister. Final touches were the green, blue, gold and silver accents that resulted in a warm, seasonal look.

Simple and Stylish

The less-is-more approach works well in this dining area, where simple florals and single evergreen branches replace opulent centerpieces. Less-decorated pines in powder rooms, by windows and staircases can add flare, adds Ivanka’s designer Milena Eror.

Beyond the Tree

Let the décor of your Christmas tree branch out to other areas of your home. Above, tabletop candles that resemble ornaments and evergreen branches hanging from the ceiling create a cozy and intimate mood for dinner on Christmas eve.
