From firepits and fireworks to pools and party favors, there are many things that go into a fun summer get-together. But you can turn any bash into the event of the season by inviting the best food trucks to the party.
By hiring the services of food (or drink) trucks, you not only give guests a delicious food option, you give yourself peace of mind—let the pros prep, cook, serve and clean up!
Below are some of our favorite New Jersey-based food and game trucks that are available to cater your event and keep the party going all day (and night) long. Not hosting any big parties anytime soon? Keep this story bookmarked so you have them at the ready as you begin to plan your next wedding, shower, bar mitzvah, birthday celebration and more.
Amanda Bananas…brings the B-A-N-A-N-A-S.
This truck proves that you can turn a banana into any type of frozen treat… if you put your mind to it. Try the banana yogurt plain, a healthy alternative to froyo or ice cream, or add fun toppings to create banana cream pie, Almond Joy and pina colada-inspired desserts. Also on tap are smoothies, “blurries,” which are basically McFlurries but with a banana base and mango pineapple swirl yogurt.
Cha Yen…brings the Asian treats.
And honestly, it’s the cutest food truck you ever did see. Cha Yen, based in Burlington County’s Hainesport, offers bubble tea, snow ice and other Asian-inspired treats, including dairy-free, gluten-free and low-sugar options for those with dietary restrictions.
Curbside Confections…brings the sweets.
Whether you’re throwing a birthday party, backyard barbecue or afternoon brunch, this Bergen County-based truck has all the right snacks and sweets. Ice cream, M&Ms, Swedish Fish…customize the truck’s offerings with all your favorites and give all your friends a treat.
Drip Coffee…brings the caffeine.
Nothing is worse than a stale K-cup. Give your guests the best-of-the-best coffee experience with the Jersey City-based Drip Coffee truck. It serves all types of drinks from dirty chais to cold brew, and you can even customize your booking with food items to accompany the caffeine (such as breakfast pastries or sweet and savory desserts).
The Flying Crepeze…brings the crepes.
No matter if your guests are craving sweet or savory, they can take their pick with farm-to-table crepes made by this Princeton-based company (they have a brick-and-mortar store called Jammin’ Crepes, so they clearly know what they’re doing). Crepes run the gamut from filled with Nutella and cinnamon sugar to another filled with an egg scramble and veggies. There’s even a kids’ menu (grilled cheese, pizza and PB&J, all on crepes!).
L’Arte della Pasticceria…brings the taste of Italy.
Everyone loves pizza and pasta salads, but the crowd will be filled with oohs and ahhs when they see (and smell) the sweet and savory treats of this Ramsey truck. They can bring anything and everything from cookies and pastries to arancini and calzones.
Mezoco…brings the tacos.
Tacos, enchiladas, churros and corn on the cob with cotija cheese are among the offerings at this Montclair-based Mexican food truck, which you might’ve spotted at farmers’ markets in and around Essex County. P.S.: Their quesadillas are gluten-free.
The Roving Bar…brings the booze.
What’s on tap? Whatever you choose when you hire The Roving Bar for your event, which is based in Shrewsbury. From Angry Orchard beer to prosecco, each beverage of your choice will have its own spout so guests can serve themselves from the mobile van.
Smokin’ Chicks Got Wood…brings the meats.
There’s no need to stand over a hot grill on a humid day… just let the pitmasters at this Bridgewater barbecue truck do all the cooking. Just choose your cut of meat—brisket, ribs, chicken, pulled pork—and they’ll fire up the barbie! Also included in the package are two side dishes of choice, including corn bread, beans, veggie pasta salad or mac and cheese.
Tin Can…brings the signature sip.
You can fill a cooler with ice and beer or you can rent one of this Ramsey company’s cocktail trucks or mobile carts. They can work with you to develop your event’s signature cocktail, or simply let the experts serve handcrafted drinks, dessert beverages, craft sodas, milkshakes and more!
