Because you never get a second chance to make a good first impression, the entryway in your home should extend a hearty greeting to your guests. Whether it’s a grand foyer or a less formal space, the entrance should serve as a preview for good things to come inside.
Entryways come in all shapes and sizes, but the majority have one thing in common: They’re a sneak peek into your personal style and they set the aesthetic tone for the rest of the house. These seven entryways below are designed by some of the best designers in the state, and all have been featured in NJ HOME.

Designers Lee Melahn and Rick Shaver placed cerused oak table from their own collection in the middle of this Warren foyer. A contemporary light fixture by Mooi illuminates the table and provides ample lighting for the grand staircase.

A salvaged wood console table is the main talking point in this airy Brielle foyer. Designer Tracy Pearce complemented the piece and filled the entrance with Nantucket-inspired elements, including black iron light fixtures, a woven mirror and area rug sourced from the Tracy Pearce Interior Design Furniture Showroom.

The homeowners of a newly constructed Westfield house asked architect Hildie Lazar and designers Hilary Hefner and Michelle Rosen for a modern vibe—and they got it. The free-floating custom staircase and three sculptural light fixtures from Stickbulb are the focal points of the open foyer.

This contemporary foyer sets the stylistic tone of this Tenafly home. Designer Jill Raskin says the entryway was her favorite part of the project, and she filled it with a modern light fixture by Apparatus Studio and a fluorescent yellow rug by J&S Designer Flooring.

Designer Swati Goorha installed a Moroccan trellis runner to this grand staircase, the focal point of this Allentown colonial’s foyer. An accent rug and artwork in the space play up the color scheme found throughout the home.

The star in this Glen Rock foyer is a large satellite pendant from Arteriors, its brass arms echoed in the sleek brass legs of the bench below. Designer Elizabeth Ego says the upholstery on the Bernhardt bench softens what otherwise might be a space of hard edges.

Classic arches in this Morristown home create the effect of both an entry foyer and vestibule—mirroring an intimate NYC townhouse, says designer Karla Trincanello. Grass-cloth walls sparkle as does the metallic silver paint on the trim and ceiling.
